As a candidate for Coconino County Attorney, I join in Chris Mayes statement today that she will not prosecute a woman or any doctors and other clinicians for providing an abortion.
I am outraged by the decision from the Arizona Supreme Court that takes away a woman’s right to an abortion, resurrecting a law from our territorial days that makes it a crime. The Arizona Constitution – adopted five decades later – clearly states that all its citizens have a right to privacy and that right includes a right to bodily autonomy for all women.
The need to pass the Arizona for Abortion Access Initiative this fall is a must. Unlike the territorial days, women will have the right to vote on it.
